Wilderness Sundays

Church is a community of people following Jesus — and at True North, that means it’s so much more than a single day of the week.

Our Wilderness Sundays are the heartbeat of our community. We gather outdoors to celebrate, be inspired by God’s Word, and encounter the living God together. These gatherings are designed to give you a real sense of what life with Jesus looks like — in the open air, in conversation, and in community.

It’s a place to pause, reflect, and experience faith in action — a glimpse of the adventure God invites us into every day.

JOY.
WONDER.
EQUIPPING.
ENCOUNTER.

Because Jesus didn’t just stay inside.

So much of His ministry happened under open skies — on hillsides, by lakes, around campfires, and along dusty roads. He taught while walking, prayed in gardens, and shared meals in homes and fields. Faith was lived out there — in real conversations, real relationships, and real moments of encounter.

At TrueNorth, we follow that same pattern.

We gather in creation – God’s first cathedral – to walk, talk, listen, and grow together. Out here, faith feels less like a meeting to attend and more like a life to be lived.

The outdoors invites us to slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover a relational faith — one that’s rooted in friendship, simplicity, and shared journeying with Jesus and one another.

PLAN YOUR VISIT.

We Want Coming to True North to Be Awesome

From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, we want your experience to be simple, welcoming, and full of life. True North is all about celebrating, walking together, and encountering God, and this guide will help you plan your visit.

Where We Meet

We gather at the Revive Hub, a short walk from the High Street in New Mills. Our building may be old, but the environment is warm, welcoming, and alive! Parking is available on surrounding streets (High Street, Meal Street) or at the Market Street carpark, just a short stroll from the Hub.

Meet the Host Team

Arriving 30 minutes before the walk? You’ll be greeted by our friendly host team. They’ll help you check in, ensure any forms are completed, and make you feel at home. If you have any accessibility needs (hearing, sight, sensory), let us know — we’ll do our best to support you.

The Message

During the walk, there will be a 5–7 minute message, practical and challenging, drawn from the Bible and designed to help you live well each day. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and get to Know God, discovering more of His love and wisdom.

Refreshments and Connection

Before the walk, enjoy our home-roast Revive coffee and a range of other refreshments. Connect with our team at the Connections desk or take time to chat and build friendships with others in the community.

Guided Walks

Walks vary in length, and all the details can be found on the True North Walk App, which also guides you through the P.R.A.Y model for reflection, prayer, and learning as you walk.

Just yourself! You might want a water bottle, and if you like, a notebook or phone to access the True North Walk App for reflection during the walk. All teaching and guidance are provided along the way.

Yes, for safety and safeguarding, all participants complete a check-in form before the walk. This can be completed during booking on or when you arrive. Our host team will help you with this when you arrive at the Revive Hub. If you’re under 18, a parental consent form is required.

No problem! Walks are designed to suit all fitness levels. You can take breaks, go at your own pace, or step off the main route if needed. Our team will be around to support you. The goal is community and connection, not speed or distance.

Walks vary in length — some are short and gentle, others are longer. Full details of each walk, including difficulty and distance, are available on the True North Walk App.

Our walks are guided by fully trained mountain leaders who also happen to be on the True North leadership team.  Our Location Pastor Robbie is highly trained mountain leader!  During the walk we follow the P.R.A.Y model: Pause, Reflect, Ask, Yield. During the walk, there will be a 5–7 minute message from the Bible, opportunities to ask questions, and time for reflection.

Yes! Families are welcome on our Wilderness Sundays . Some walks are family-friendly, and children should be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

We do have more adventurous walks 4 times a year that we would only recommend seasoned walkers.

We love the outdoors, rain or shine! Walks go ahead unless conditions are unsafe. Bring a waterproof jacket and embrace the joy and adventure!

Absolutely. Wilderness Sundays and walks are designed for everyone, whether you’re exploring faith for the first time, have questions, or are a seasoned follower of Jesus. The focus is on connection, reflection, and discovering God along the way.
